Client challenge
Excessive procurement, coupled with senior staff performing junior-level tasks, caused dissatisfaction and spiraling costs. The ongoing dependency on global Big 5 firms kept bill rates near $200 per hour. A lack of succession planning and IT recruitment hindered the development of future internal IT leaders.
Our solution
Our team developed a custom recruitment strategy to identify candidates with supply chain and manufacturing experience or exposure who were most likely to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced project setting. This approach prioritized availability for nights and weekends, as well as experience with international travel and language skills. Additionally, we tailored our recruitment process to ensure candidates aligned with the client’s company culture.
We then incorporated specialized training for key SAP modules into a two-week training camp. Extra educational resources were provided for critical roles such as trainers, quality analysts, and release managers. Lastly, we introduced a right-to-hire program, which included contract modifications allowing for permanent job offers as early as one year into the assignment.
Results
Valtree has successfully placed 216 Crew consultants at this client over the past eight years, including international deployments across 18 countries. In total, 61 Crew consultants have transitioned into permanent client roles, with a retention rate of 93%, which is higher than average. Of those converted Crew consultants, 72% have been identified as high potential (HR leadership flag), compared to the client’s corporate average of 17%. Through its partnership with Valtree, our client has realized $55 million in total savings compared to Big 5 firms.
